KCRA 3 News - Sacramento App Reviews

Scattered

The videos are annoying... I like to read my news, not watch videos of the broadcast. They take too long to watch. I liked the flow of the old way of the app... Was easier to navigate, but... The news is updated much more frequently than a Bay Area news station I also use. News is written clearly and no guessing required at what the stories are about. New version of the app is just too busy and has ads all over. I get the ads help pay for the free use of the app. But the fact they are consistently in the middle of a story is annoying.

KCRA Review

KRKC is my local station - and for the evening news. This is good. The app is not - to junked up. The videos have to go, they are annoying. I realize you need to have revenue to operate as a TV station, but all the adds inserted everywhere destroy the ability to give good news articles - I give up reading them all the way through. Also, if you have a breaking story make it something really "breaking" something we need to know now. Overall it is a poor app in its present form. the 30 seconds before the news is very aggregating - if the story has one I dump the whole thing. I am not opposed to ads but not videos and the 30 seconds of junk,

Too much stuff too slow!

That says it all

Horrible

I spent more time wading through their commercials (A waste of time considering they are for a channel I already watch and have downloaded their dang app) than I do watching the stories. So frustrated so I will be deleting this immediately. Great news station, really poorly thought out app.

App just ok

I dont think much of this app. Horrible design and hard to use. I love the station KCRA. I just wish the app was as good.

Old news and Too many Ads

The updates we get are always old news AND the ads you run? Volume is too HIGH

See ya

30 second ads before every video; subpar writing; poor site design adds up to a terrible experience. The only thing that made their previous site interesting was the discussions possible with other readers. Now even that is gone. Awful place to get news.

Best local news app Ive found

I love the relevant pop up alerts, good articles, local news, etc. would definitely recommend.

Disappointed!

I really do not like having to watch a video to find out about a story Im interested in. Not to mention you have to wait for an ad before you even see the story. I find my self closing your app and going to another Sacramento news app because I can read the story there or I can choose the option to watch a video regarding the story, at least I get a choice! Take away the videos or at least make them optional.

Great for local news

I live in Gridley and it is hard to get our local news. This channel, which I get using my app on my phone provides me with the best local news for my area. All the channels on my tv only give me Chico and Redding news.

Thumbs down!

KCRA is my go-to channel for local news and Nightly with Lester Holt. However, the KCRA app has waaa-ay too many ads. Am taking it off my phone.

Stop with the fire coverage

I feel badly for fire victims, but watching the fire burn does not help them. If you feel you have to do it, please replace the show that you are cutting out. And dont just give us half a show, thats the worst. On the stupid conventions (I dont want to see them either) you cut out the last half of Americas got talent, a very popular show. You cut out parts of Dr. Oz, another popular show, with the fires. If you want us to watch your station, give us what we want, not what you want. I suppose its about money. If so, why ask us our opinion?

Latest update broken

Latest update: terrible! Crashes immediately upon opening. Cmon, you guys! My iPhone 6 auto-updated yesterday, and I havent been able to use the app since. One feature Id really like to see is a "Corrections" section. Recently, when a Search and Rescue volunteer was shot in Nevada County, you erroneously reported (for how long, I do not know) that he had been shot in the head. I wonder how many horrified people still believe that...? Chances are, few people whod read the original, error-filled story bothered to check the link again, once youd made the correction that the volunteer was, in fact, shot in the hip. Irresponsible. It would also be helpful to have a link in the pull-down menu to Foothill/Lake Tahoe news. I see this heading while reading a story about this geographical area (where many of your readers and viewers reside), but theres no option for stories from this area, as there is for "Bay Area," "Stockton," etc., in the "News" section of the menu. Finally, enough slide shows! You even recycle slide shows! Just stop already.

Dizzy

Cool and keeps me up to date!!

Adds Adds Adds!

Adds lurking in the middle of text articles, be careful that you dont accidentally click one as you scroll! And every video starts with an add! I can understand a used car add or something like that, but telling us about KCRA 3?!! We have the app, we know about it! How about less adds and more news? Its at the point where Ill go to my desktop to watch a video story, from another source, just to avoid the commercials.

KCRA-P

KCRA, how did you know that I love to see the same 30 second commercial before every single video clip? Do you think its possible to make the screen rotate in the other direction? Keep up the great work while I use the Fox 40 app instead.

ANNOYING VIDEO ADS!!

Seriously I cannot mute the ads? This is annoying! I get it that you guys need advertisements but give me the power to at least mute it and not wake up my child. Thank you.

Tj!

Bad interface, bad coverage of stories and many times bad grammar. You are not allowed to leave comments anymore. If you did and KCRA liberals dont like it, they will moderate and take it out. Also, who wants to watch 30 second ads before youre biased, one sided, slanted news

An ad platform with some news

I understand wanting to generate revenue. This advertising app does have some local Sacramento news, but you have to suffer through horrible ad placement. Its like moving back in time to how many websites used to look with ads everywhere. That stopped because websites realized they lost revenue. Do yourself a favor and install a good ad blocking program and use their website instead of the app. KCRA Team. Youve got the best on air talent in the Sac area. Why not Compliment with the best app experience too?

Too many (and redundant) ads

It is outrageous that somebody should have to spend 30 valuable seconds watching a commercial before he can log onto your live newscast. Thats one or two important stories that we are missing. Its even worse because the same commercial will be running within the newscast that were trying to watch. You dont need to do this. Even 5 or 10 second spots would still imprint the advertiser in our minds; you dont have to do overkill with 30-second commercials. Your app has so much wasted potential.
